Item details

This is a knitting pattern for a bag, it is not the finished item.
The pattern is written in English and is in pdf form which is available for instant download.

◆ The Alder bag was made to match the Alder Blanket but is lovely as a stand-alone project. The design is based on the Japanese Knot bag style.

◆ It is an easy knit, suitable for a beginning knitter with a little experience ready to branch out to something different.

◆The bag is knitted flat all in one piece and seamed, except for the handles which knitted separately and are sewn on afterwards. Full instructions for seaming are in the pattern and pictures are there to help you along the way.

The bag has a square base in garter stitch which extends around the sides of the bag and across the top. This frames the pattern stitch which matches the Alder blanket. The straps are also in garter stitch.

The samples pictured are knitted in Cascade Pacific for the light coloured bag and the blue bag was knitted in Rowan Hemp Tweed.

◆ To knit this bag you should be able to cast on and off, knit, purl and work a backwards loop cast on.

◆ Yarn: 250m / 274 yds of an Aran or worsted weight yarn. A firm, not too springy yarn will give you the best results.
◆ Needles: Pair 4mm / US 6 and pair of 3.5mm / US4 OR sizes to get you the tension/gauge stated.

As with all of my patterns, please do contact me if you have any problems or need any advise, I am always happy to help.
