Yuzen dyeing is used for kimonos, coats and haori (short coats worn with formal kimonos), and these days is produced in the cities of Kyoto and Uji, part of greater Kyoto. Kyo-yuzen dyeing was designated a traditional craft in 1976. Please notice that this is an unused tacked-together unfinished Houmongi kimono - basically a bolt of kimono fabric that has been tacked together to show a potential buyer how the houmongi kimono will look when finally assembled to fit the buyer.
This Homongi (women's robe)is drowned by hand, with the seasonal flower which shows a colorful expression at the place, good to remake into your own style, an unused tacked-together unfinished Houmongi. The fabric we call "Tan" that has been tacked together to show a potential buyer how the Houmongi kimono will look like when finally assembled to fit the buyer.
