This listing is for a naturally dyed sampler pack of roving totaling 1 pound. There are 4 ounces of aspen (green), 4 ounces of logwood (royal purple), 4 ounces of burdock (mustard yellow), and 4 ounces of logwood (light plum).
This process begins after we shear and send our kid/yearling fleeces to Zeilingers mill in Michigan (where they wash and comb these beautiful fleeces into roving, please appreciate the shipping to and from Michigan).
We then dye a pallet of natural colors for the discerning tapestry weaver or specialty spinner looking for something extraordinary. We use plant material which we gather from our farm to create the dyes along with purchased plant material that does not grow here.
Our dyes are created after our roving has been heated in a mordant bath and then cooled for 24 hours. The dye (color) bath also requires heat and cooling for an additional 24 hours, then rinsing and drying in the sunshine for 2-5 days depending on the daylight hours and temperature.
This is an exquisite gift for your favorite fiber artist. I love creating these natural dyes which result in a subtle, muted richness that only nature can provide.
Please buy carefully as I am unable to accept returns. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
