Item details

Unique vintage wooden lathe-turned primitive wood thimble, hand-made and turned on a lathe with incised lines and completely painted or stained in a pitch black color. As soon as we saw this, we thought of President Lincoln's stove pipe hat!

Solid black (either by paint or stain) wood thimbles are very uncommon. The top of this vintage wood thimble has no thimble dimples and is finished at a very slight angle - not perfectly flat. This wood thimble measures 1-1/10" tall and 1" in diameter at the base. The wood, or the paint or stain, and/or the sealer has a somewhat rough finish, both inside and out.
