This sharpeningstrop is made from American white oak with English veg tanned 3mm leather on two sides.
This is entirely made by me with the materials sourced local to my home in Sheffield
The overall length is 11.5" / 295mm. The leather strop itself is 7.75" / 200mm long approximately
I use a leather strop for putting the final edge on all my blades. Used with a fine polish/abrasive the edge that can be achieved is hair popping.
I will supply a small quantity of chromium oxide, which when mixed with water into a paste can be applied to one side. I tend to,leave the other side clean for a final strop of the blade or you could add a slightly more aggressive polish to aid with final sharpening.
Used on any cutting edge from a bushcraft blade to a wood working chisel this final stropping delivers a much better edge than just sharpening with stones alone. Used regularly stropping can avoid the need for a full resharpen on a stone
