Gourds are fun to grow, and even more fun to work with once they're dry!
Whether you start these indoors or direct sow, you should wait until the ground is warm and there is no fear of frost before you put them outside. Either way, you can increase germination rates by soaking the seeds overnight before planting.
I don't recommend gourds as container plants, because they can get kind of huge. Some people like to let them sprawl all over the ground. I personally prefer to trellis them onto a fence.
