Great Explorers, Marco Pole Etc. Rubber Printing Plate, French History. Circa 1950-1960
If you are wondering why suddenly I have a mountain of these old school stamps, its because a French man I know bought a huge lot at an estate sale where the contents of a old, long closed down French school were being sold. Many of these are rare animal, history and botany ones which I have never seen before. The most common ones you see are mainly maths and geography.
I have never seen these French history rubber stamps before and I have seen tons of vintage French stamps, therefore one can only assume that they are rare or in the hands of collectors.
This one shows 3 Great Explorers, which I think are, Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus and Sir Walter Raleigh. It also shows the type of ship they would have sailed in.
If I have any of these famous explorers wrong going by the images please let me know.
Condition, virtually unused, so excellent.
Mounted on a metal plate. Could be mounted on wood.
Its original use would have been to teach children the Subjects in school. In this case French history. - history. As a guess I would say they are for children around 11 years old. Great for any junior school teacher to print in exercise books, or indeed for any child interested in learning.
Fill in the blanks exercise hence the dashed lines.
Large, measures the overall size of the metal plate is approx 7.1/2 by 5.1/2 inches.
It date from the 1960's.
I have others listed. If you are interested in more than one please contact me for combined shipping.
