A FEW NOTES ON MY YARN
-All yarn is hand-painted or hand-dyed in small batches or sometimes even
one of a kind colorways. Please order enough yarn for your project at one
time to ensure it comes from the same dye lot. If you need more yarn than
what is listed, please contact me to see if a custom order on that colorway
is possible. As always with hand-dyed yarn, it is recommended when multiple
skeins, that you alternate skeins every other row or so.
-Speckles, Spots, Random Colors and Pooling- Hand-painted and dyed yarn
is created to be unique and random, sometimes uneven dye distribution will
occur. Variegated colors may pool depending on the length of rows or
repeats and random spots of dye may appear here and there. This is the
beauty of hand-painted and hand-dyed yarn, buyer beware. I try not to
create long color repeats in order to avoid pooling, but sometimes it will
still happen.
-Each skein of yarn is reskeined after the dyeing/drying process, this ensures
that any knots there may be are found and I deal with them in the winding
process, not you. This process also allows for you to see what the yarn
actually looks like in its ready-to-use state, not with the colors all blocked
together.
-Yarn winding service- Yarn will be wound into balls/cakes free of charge at
customer request. Please select this option from the drop down menu
when purchasing yarn.
-Garment Care- Although many of my yarns are considered superwash, not
all acid dyes live up to this and even superwash yarn can deteriorate over
time. I recommend washing all hand-painted and hand-dyed yarn
separately, by hand, with a mild wool wash and cool water; this will keep the
item looking like new and prevent any accidents, just in case the dye would
happen to bleed. Dye bleed is rare and occurs mainly in darker colors, but
may occur in any color, especially if washed in warm water.
-Yarn is hand-painted and stored in a smoke-free, pet friendly environment.
I have a husband, teenage daughter and two dogs, but never fear, when the
yarn is out and it is dye time, they all run far, far away. All yarn is stored in
plastic containers with locking lids.
-Wholesale- Wholesale orders are available. If you are a retailer and would
like to stock Creating with Sticks yarn, stitch markers or other items in your
yarn shop, please send me a message for details.
