Item details

Create this stunning cuff bracelet using size 8/0 seed beads and odd count peyote stitch. This bracelet works up quickly, so it can be worn the same (or next) day and makes a great last minute gift.

The inspiration for this pattern was a Navajo blanket I owned several decades ago. Although not exactly able to duplicate the design, I chose colors that made me think of the Southwest. The cuff as made, is embellished with a simple bead edging (two cream size 11 beads, one red size 8 and two more cream size 11’s) but no edging is needed unless desired. It is finished with a simple magnet clasp with both ends tapered. Because of the taper to a point, I used odd count peyote (you can find many written instructions with a simple internet search). Several pictures of the finished bracelet are shown below.

Included in this 8-page PDF is a realistic pattern picture, a list of the beads used and how many of each are needed, a bead graph, and written row-by-row instructions for peyote. On the last pages are larger copies of the pattern picture that you can print and use as your go-by if, like me, you hate following written instructions. Please note that this is not a tutorial and assumes basic knowledge of peyote stitch. There are many sites on the internet you can check for a refresher if needed (check your favorite bead supply store website or do a simple internet search).

The cuff is nearly 7 inches long and 1 inch wide (1.25 inches with the edging).

I’ve included the number/name of the beads used when designing the piece, but use whatever colors and make of beads you would like. The only caveat regarding bead choice is that different manufacturers of beads produce slightly different sizes (within each size category) so the finished piece may be larger/smaller than the measurements given, requiring a little adaptation. Also, some manufacturers produce beads with varying sizes/quality requiring significant initial culling. Just use beads that are approximately the same size when making these cuffs.

Feel free to sell what you create from my patterns but please do not sell the pattern or make copies for others. If you sell the pieces, I would appreciate if you would note the design source with a link. I’d also love to see a picture of your finished piece!
