This rug hooking kit is drawn on cotton monks cloth. My name is Sharon tzpatrick Perry and I have been hooking rugs for over 22 years. I cannot tell you how many people have taught themselves this craft with my beginner kits. Here's what you will receive if you purchase this item:
Pattern drawn on cotton monks cloth sealed at the edges to prevent fraying 100% wool fabric strips that are 1/4" wide (#8) Rug binding to finish your hooked piece A color key Easy to follow instructions
The only other items you will need to get started are a frame and a rug hook. I started out with a quilting hoop which can be purchased at any craft or fabric shop. As for the hook I have always used the Moshimer hook that I have listed for 12.25 but if choose the option to purchase it with this kit the price is discounted to just 9.00.
The pattern measures 8 X 8 inches and would make a great wall hanging, trivet, table centerpiece, candle or teapot mat when completed. Lots of people hang these hand hooked mats from old cupboards or make little pillows out of them. The flag is hooked with oatmeal, red and blue herringbone and the star with a deep cranberry red. The background is done with a beautiful plaid and for a finishing touch I added a row of the same deep cranberry red around the edge of the piece.
If you have any questions please email me and thanks so much for looking at my work. If you'd like to see how easy this craft is to do, just google Primitive Rug Hooking.
