Item details

Get your Steampunk attire correct! Are you dressed properly? You need a jacket, waistcoat (or vest) and a tie to go out in public. Otherwise, for shame! Women wore waistcoats too. This pattern can help. It is based on the original Victorian clothing.

There are two different types of men's vests and one for women as well as an awesome Bow Tie. The men's vest styles have been adapted for women's wear. Some of us fit better in the mens vest. Sizes run from a Womens 6 (78 cm) to a Mens 44 (112 cm). See the back of the pattern for more info.

View A is collarless, has four pockets, and an adjustable back waist belt. View B is bias cut for a more decorative fabric. It has two pockets and a shawl collar, also with a back waist belt. View C is a short waist, the original women's style. It features darts for fit, two rows of buttons, and a notched collar. Sadly, no pockets.

The materials that can be used for these vests is diverse. Medium to heavier weight fabrics work best. Victorians did not have central heating like we do. Cotton, silk, wool, linen, and synthetic blends can be used with or without nap. Also brocade, velvet, corduroy, canvas, pique, velveteen, or synthetic suede would be wonderful for this pattern. Don't forget to pick up fabric for the tie as well.

Folkwear has been in business a long time and is still in business today. Ursula's Alcove is a licensed dealer. This pattern is new, not used or vintage.
