Polypay sheep were developed here in America. It's foundation is a cross of four sheep. Finnsheep x Rambouillet and Dorset x Targhee. These sheep were humanely raised on a small family farm here in Scott County Minnesota.
The fiber itself is soft and takes color well. Makes for wonderful hats, mittens and scarves. Spin into a lofty yarn with a bit of texture.
We did make multiples of this colors way, so please ask for availability if more is wanted. Our colorways are made up as we go, so there is little chance you will see the same color way twice. If you like it, get it now! Our batts go fast.
Our wool comes from small family farms in the Midwest. Wool was milled into rovings at small Minnesota and Wisconsin fiber mills. We then hand dyed with Earth friendly Greener Shades dyes, made here in the United States. Our batts are made on a Fancy Kitty Big Tom XL carder for an extra large batt.
Because we do not have the wool carbonized (chemically treated), you will find small bits of vegetable matter (VM). These pieces will be easily fall out or can be picked out as you spin. The presence of VM just reminds us of the fiber's beginnings on a small family farm.
