Beautiful antique Victorian sterling and ebony sock darner, a necessary tool in the day, but only the well to do had one this nice.
Measures about 6 1/2 inches. Stamped sterling repousse handle with bezel set amethyst paste. Though it was never engraved, there are faint scratchings where someone thought initials should go.
Normal wear relative to age, lovely piece of sewing history.
Shipped with tracking and insurance, gussied up for gifting. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, I am pleased to respond. International shipping is an expensive problem for expensive product, please note that I cannot ship to all locations, I am so very sorry.

Shipping & policies
I ship everything with tracking and insurance, and refund overcharges cheerfully.
I ship to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand ONLY.
I ship with tracking and insurance usually no later than 2 business days after purchase. Sometimes life gets in the way of my good intent, but I always try my very best to be prompt and will always keep you informed.
Your address must be current and correct, please check your accounts to be certain. I am not certain I did everything just right when switching to calculated shipping, so please be patient. If you are overcharged for shipping and insurance I will cheerfully refund. If I have not charged you enough, smile and carry on.
"IMPORTANT": If you live outside the US please be aware that any VAT, taxes, customs fees or other charges you may incur when your package arrives in your country are your responsibility and are not included in the shipping fee. Please do not ask me to mark your item as a gift. I will not falsify customs forms. In the event you decide to return an item, you are responsible for costs of return shipping in the same manner in which I originally sent the item to you.
I do not ship anywhere without tracking. Who in their right mind is willing to assume the risk of the loss of their product, and payment as well? It is pricey, and I have tried to offer the least expensive methods of shipping safely.
For items sent internationally, please understand that I cannot be responsible for packages that are held in customs, so be sure the item you wish to buy is allowed to be sent to your country before making the purchase. I insure all items sent internationally so please contact me if your item doesn't arrive or if it arrives damaged. Shipping internationally is an expensive problem, working together on a mutually agreeable form of protection for both of us is open to discussion.
*NOTE: Items sent internationally may take up to 8 weeks to arrive and tracking isn't always precise once an item leaves the US. Please allow enough time for your item to arrive.
All items are shipped through USPS and packaged with the utmost care!
I accept PayPal, Etsy Payments, and Etsy gift cards.
If you are a Nevada resident, I must collect 7.10% of the sale for my governor.
Payment is expected at the time of purchase, unless we have discussed a lay away plan prior to purchase. Please contact me prior to check out to arrange a payment schedule. If you want a lay away arrangement, let me know and I will enable the "OTHER" checkout option for you.
INTERNATIONAL: No matter what verbiage you may see in my shop, or elsewhere, I am not collecting nor am I responsible for taxes imposed on International customers. You are responsible for return shipping. I ship to the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia only.
I have no access to your credit card or other payment information, your privacy is treated with utmost care and respect.
Returns & exchanges
- Custom or personalized orders
- Perishable products (like food or flowers)
- Digital downloads
- Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
I want you to be totally satisfied with your purchase of an heirloom piece, so please contact me immediately if there are any issues or concerns.
Please don't request returns on lay-away items. Be certain before you purchase. I am happy to provide additional photos and am available to answer questions in a timely manner.
Lay away is a fairly painless process and breaks down an expensive purchase into more munchable chunks, I prefer a 60-90 day maximum period with one third of the price as a down payment, scheduled installments, and do not refund if you change your mind about our agreement. Convo me prior to purchase and I will enable the "OTHER" payment option so you can check out, and I will invoice the agreed upon installments.
I am just me, working instinctively with materials I have, and no longer accept custom work. Adjusting a piece to fit you isn't a problem, or rearranging elements to suit you better is also open to discussion. I am happy to help you with a great fit.
I sell from my home studio, brick and mortar, and at shows, so pieces shown in my Etsy shop are subject to sale elsewhere.
If you are searching for a particular antique or vintage piece, convo me. We have probably the most interesting antique store in the state of Nevada and I am fine with setting up a custom listing for you here.
