HELLO! Here are two, wonderful, old, "thunderbird" pendants- All hand constructed with natural and man made materials- Natural turquoise, white shell (or plastic), and olive green, black, and brown material that I believe to be vintage plastics. Each is crudely carved and cut, with a wood "veneer" or laminate backing- very thin. Each Thunderbird is drilled thru with a hole through the neck area, to make a necklace. See fourth photo, might not be the easiest to see. Largest "wing span" is 2 and 3/4 inches across, slightly smaller one is 2 and 5/8ths inches across. They definitely have some age.
****PLEASE NOTE- these are really wonderful, but they are crudely constructed. Someone did put alot of effort into them. I don't see any damages, there is a bit of glue residue on one of the backings. As my sister noted, who worked for Harvard University's Native American "collection" department, these could be either pieces possibly connected to Santo Domingo, which used natural and vintage plastic materials during "hard" or "depression" times, or, they could be someone's random craft/boy scout vintage project. We have also both seen that many Santo Domingo pieces seem to be thicker front to back, usually with a black plastic backing. These were collected in southern New Hampshire, I do not have any further info on them, PLEASE USE YOUR BEST JUDGEMENT, and, I'm happy to accept ANY information that someone would have about them- I really just want them to have a proper home. Would make two fabulous statement necklaces, perhaps properly done so, if someone desires.
