Authentic indigo stitch-dyed mud cloth fabric made in Mali, West Africa. These textiles are handwoven from raw, unprocessed cotton and are also dyed by hand using plant based dyes. This piece is usually soft and very lightweight compared to most West African textiles, it is ideally suited to be used as a scarf, shawl or a light throw. I also have new Bambara indigo from Mali, which are heavyweight versions of the Dogon indigo. The textile is made from 6" (15cm) wide handwoven strips which are hand sewn together to form one large piece. Traditionally worn as a wrapper, these cloths all unique in shade, size and design: you will be receiving the exact piece in the photos. The textile is in shades of dark indigo blue and white. It is 45" (114cm) wide x 59 1/2" (1541cm) long with a raw edge and it is in new condition.
I recommend washing separately in cold water using mild soap, this piece has already been washed and can be used immediately. I have more African textiles so please see my store for other styles. Combined shipping available on all textiles. Please ask any questions prior to purchase, thank you!
All items are 100% authentic and vintage items have been previously worn in a traditional environment. Every effort has been made to describe any flaws in both words and pictures in the listings however a certain amount of wear should always be expected. Handmade items should also be expected to contain irregularities which I believe adds to their character and does not detract in any way from their quality.
