This listing is a pdf download for a hand knitting pattern to make the Weimwood Shawl, this striking, triangular, modular constructed shawl. The pattern is worked in garter stitch and the result looks equally fabulous on males and females. The pattern takes between 50g and 100g of three colours of 4ply yarn (sock yarn is perfect) and the two versions in the pictures used a solid colour for A, and variegated sock yarns for B and C.
The yarns given in the pattern are those used for the red and cream version which required two 50g balls each of Rowan Felted Tweed in Rage for A, Bergere de France Goomy 50 Imprim Beige for B, and Goomy 50 Imprim Prune for C. The pattern requires a pair of 3 1/4mm (US 3) needles (or similar to achieve required tension).
The blue version shown in the photos used 60g (240m/260yds)) of West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply in Blueberry Bonbon (shade 365) (for A), and 75g (325m/355yds) each of Bergere de France Goomy 50 Imprim Ciel (B), and Bergere de France Goomy 50 Imprim Kaki (C).
The pattern consists of working garter stitch modules (squares and triangles) which are knitted together using the pick up and knit technique. The edges of the modules have an effective but simple picot lace/eyelet pattern, and the finished edges of the shawl use a classic picot cast off.
The finished shawl worked using the yarns given in the pattern is approximately 140cm wing-span by 57cm depth (55inches, 22 1/2 inches)
