Scatter these seeds after you see Bluebonnets that have bloomed in your zone. I am in zone 8 about 40 miles from Austin and I have some that started blooming at the beginning of February. When all of mine stop blooming, I will watch the seed pods dry. When they burst open, flinging their seeds into the air, then I will scatter more seeds in a new area. Bluebonnets naturally scatter their seeds after blooming in March through May. The seed pods replace the blooms, then begin drying in the sun. When the pods are dry, they burst flinging their seeds into the air. The seeds make direct contact with soil, it rains, and the heat begins to wear away their protective seed coat. They will begin to grow in 15- 75 days. They grow through the winter, then bloom in the spring. According to Txdot, some seeds may take up to two years to wear away their protective seed coat. So, don't cover them with soil or mulch. Don't mow down your Bluebonnets while the seeds are maturing in their seedpods.
According to TX Dot seeds can be scattered until the end of October and grow through the winter and bloom in the Spring. You are buying 1/4 oz. Approx. 250 seeds.
Zones: 3-8 Full Sunlight 12-24" Well drained soil Drought tolerant Successful germination of Bluebonnet Seeds depends on many important grower skills; such as, proper planting time, seed depth, type of soil, watering, light intensity, soil conditions, and reasonable weather during the growing period. These factors are totally out of the sellers control, and germination and growing results are the buyer's responsibility and risk.
