This is a lovely large piece of crisp cotton toile de jouy fabric with a charming black and white design.
The design on the fabric has a pen and ink drawing quality to it, decorated with shepherdess and sheep. This is a charming and unusual piece of cloth. It also has 'beautifully fashioned' in banners in the trees and 'fmf' in little cartouches across the design.
Along the selvage is 'cree pour fmf par Francoise Estachy. I have not been able to find anything out about fmf???
The fabric is in lovely crisp clean condition. It is made up of 2 fabric widths joined with a centre seam. There is a line of stitching just along the edge of the selvage and then another further in, so if you unpicked the second row of stitches there would be 2 full widths.
Ideal for a quirky country home sewing project.
