This winter’s go-to accessory has been the Messy Bun/Ponytail Hat. It's very easy to make, and lends itself to a wide variety of yarn and colors. But someone brought it to my attention that there is a large faction of the population that is being overlooked in the frenzy of this trend: the guys! “There are a lot of men with ponytails too, you know,” he said. “Don’t you think they would want a hat that will keep their ears warm while they’re working outside or hunting, AND keep their ponytail out of the way too??” And with that, the not-so-girlie Bun Beanie Ponytail Hat was born! The hat featured in this pattern is a simple, no-frills crocheted design, and unlike other patterns for this type of hat, this one features a slit opening in the back of the hat instead of a round opening in the top, to allow for the fact that guys don't generally wear the ponytails on top of their heads, and sometimes we ladies wear a low bun or pony. Perfect for the whole family!
