Charming, antique window salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. The window has a solid wood frame made of old, Douglas Fir. It's painted white on both sides. It has 4, old, wavy glass lites.
It still has it's original, 12" chains that it hung from. If you are planning using this as a wall hanging, the chains will provide a cool way to suspend it.
Like most, old, exterior windows, it was installed with aluminum weather-stripping. A small, 1/4" channel was cut in the top and side rails to fit the strips. We left the strips in as they add another cool, old-fashioned detail to window's look. However, if you want the strips removed prior to shipping, we could do this for no extra charge, and if you want the grooves filled in, email us for a quote.
The lites are secured with old-fashioned glazier's putty on the exterior side. The putty is intact for the most part, but there are a few spots where it's missing (see photo). All of the glass is firm and doesn't jiggle, but if you want an air-tight seal to prevent draft from coming through; we could putty the spots where it's missing--email us for a quote.
Condition: The frame (sash) is in good shape with only the typical nicsk and scratches that you would expect to find on a 100+ year old window. There are no serious structural flaws like rot, warp, or loose joints.
One of the lites is cracked, but its not easily noticed unless you look at it from the correct angle. If you're planning on using the window for decoration, you could leave the lite as is. However, if you want to install the window, we could replace the glass with old, wavy glass custom cut from our collection of old glass.
Size Modification: Is the window too short, too narrow, or both? We could increase the size by a few inches. If the window is a bit too big, we could trim it slightly as well. Email us with a description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. See the photos of a window that we widened as an example.
Stripping/Refinishing: We could either completely strip the stain, finish, and paint to prep the frame for you to apply a new stain and finish, or prep the surface of the frame for a fresh coat of paint. We could also stain and finish, or repaint. Email us with a description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
