Item details

"Vintage Christmas" is a gorgeous set of 12 original 8.5" x 11" papers available in 3 .zip files. They evoke the joy of a happier time; when things were slower and less chaotic; when dinner with the family was *dining*, a visit with the neighbour was *calling*, and a quick trip to the store was *a fashionable outing*, worthy of the finest silk hats and gloves, and our best walking outfits for afternoon.

My mum had an old pile of Christmas wrapping paper she must have used when I was a baby that I found in the attic one day, and I remember just staring at it for hours. The quality of the paper was thin, and there were no fancy designs; maybe a Santa or two with a reindeer. But it was the colours that I remember: reds that had once been so vibrant, now faded with age, giving them a blue and green tinge; white papers tinged with green on their edges, and the greens themselves, dusted with the oxide from leaning against a rusty wrench, added this neat rusty-red to them.

Those things are forever carved in my memory as "Vintage" Christmas papers and colours, and that is what this set is about. I'm sure you remember some of the same things from your childhood.

Don't forget that these papers will work for scrapbooking, as backgrounds for your very own web-pages, hand-written letters, and if you change the scale on the printer to something smaller, thus resizing it, you can even use them for your journals, index card designs, or origami!

And now onto the boring deets:

--You will receive 12 beautiful, ORIGINAL high-quality designs in digital download papers in 3 separate zip files.

--You may print over and over again as many times as you like, since this is a DIGITAL item--NO paper items will be shipped.

--Due to the nature of DIGITAL, NO REFUNDS can be offered. Apologies for any inconvenience.

--I've studied graphic design and colour theory and have been doing ORIGINAL graphics (no recapitulated clip-art for me!) for many years--even the gold balls, jewels and pearls are completely original on some of your papers! So you can be guaranteed to have a completely original creation.

--They were designed at 300 ppi (pixels per inch), and your printer actually uses dpi (dots per inch). It's a throw-back to the old dot matrix printers, but know this one very important thing: Just because these were created at 300 ppi, does NOT mean your printer will necessarily print them at this resolution. You MUST check the settings on your printer to know at what dpi it is set to print. For instance, my own printer is automatically set to print at 600 dpi, and because my graphics were done at 300, this means I'll get a medium-good quality of printing. If I had created them at 600, then this would have been the absolute best resolution and quality my printer could produce--something akin to what a professional printer would have given me. Your printer will NOT automatically print at a higher resolution that it has been set to print. Some of these low-to-mid-priced printers (usually combined with a flat-bed scanner) that you purchase at office supply stores will allow you to go into the properties menus and change the default DPIs, so double-check that setting before printing so you won't be discouraged over quality. I've been doing graphics for over twenty years and have read a LOT of myths and misconceptions out there regarding resolutions, so wanted you to know the truth before you purchased. :)

--I have put all 12 images into .jpg, format and compiled them into 4 .zip files, which means all detail has been preserved, and all you need to do is simply extract them into the appropriate directory and then print. Couldn't be simpler!

--Shipping is instant via your PayPal or Etsy account.

--For difficulties with downloading, missing files or any other questions, please don't hesitate to send me a message and we'll work it out.

--Thank-you SO MUCH for your interest in GlitterCat Studios.

FAQs

No. First, we design in ppi (pixels per inch), and your printer uses dpi (dots per inch). It's a throw-back to the old dot matrix printers, but just because these were created at 300 ppi, does NOT mean your printer will automatically print at this resolution. You MUST check the settings on your printer to know at what dpi it is set to print. For instance, my own printer is automatically set to print at 600 dpi, and because my graphics were designed at 300, this means I will get a result of 300 dpi. YOUR PRINTER WILL NEVER PRINT BEYOND ITS DEFAULT SETTING. So be sure to check those settings in your printer properties menu to make sure you get the best quality printing possible.

Absolutely! In June of 2016, I became an award-winning and published coloured pencil artist with my second painting, so I pride myself on using 100% original items in every design that I produce. I've studied graphic design & colour theory and have been doing ORIGINAL graphics (no recapitulated clip-art for me!) for over 20 years, so every item in my designs will be completely original. The roses are hand-painted, the pearls and Christmas balls are designed with 3-D software, the jewels and other gemstomes are original and designed with software I have, and even the gold locket on the label is original! In fact, it's a published preset for a Photoshop plug-in! So don't worry--you can be guaranteed to have a fully original design.

Yes. In fact, working to custom specifications is one of my favourite, and best things to do. So don't be shy with your ideas. We'll hash them out together. Just check my LinkedIn profile to read testimonials from past graphic design clients to see how much they enjoyed the process of collaborating on a design and then the joy they felt of watching it come to life.
