Round Labradorite Cabochon (38mm) - SALE Gemstone Pendant, Stone Cab, Turquoise Blue Toned Labradorite, Jewelry Supply, Destash, Bargain
Very pretty turquoise blue labradorite cabochon. This stone has a pretty consistent flash, nice round Moon style stone. Very nice stone for the price. Normally priced at $28.00.
I price the labradorites according to size, color, and refractive light quality. The more you see the refractive light the more expensive the stone. Deep blues, purple and pinks are difficult to find…. Changing colors in the stone also make the stone more unique and are harder to find.
$25 and up: Amazing Great quality or very large or they look gorgeous at numerous angles or have a more rare color. $20- $25: They are either large and very good quality or smaller and great quality. $15-$20: either large and good quality or smaller and very good quality. $10-$15: Have very beautiful flashes that are full but only at specific angles. $10 and under: are just not as amazing as the others or have blemishes in the color, but still have nice flashes of color as seen in the images.
Labradorite is an important feldspar gemstone. It often displays a beautiful iridescent play of colors, which can move as the stone is rotated. Labradorite gemstones usually have a dark base color with metallic-looking color plays of blue, green, yellow, and red. This iridescent effect is commonly known as labradorescence. It is caused by internal fractures that reflect light back and forth, dispersing it into different colors. -
Labradorite desposits are found in Labrador, Canada, as well as in Australia, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia and the USA.
I choose all my stones with the tree of life wire wrapping in mind or my brass filigree wrapped stones. I find stones that will have landscaping features which seem to be perfectly created for this purpose or are, in themselves, just beautiful gifts from our earth.
The concept of a tree of life, the tree of knowledge, the Bodhi Tree (under which the Buddha received enlightenment) or the Norse Yggdrasil is a widespread theme or archetype, symbolically connecting to heaven and the underworld, and all forms of creation. In the movie Avatar it is referred to as the Tree of Souls.
My purpose in this store is to provide you with beautiful, affordable quality gemstones for you to wear. I am not selling natural gemstones for investment purposes. Many of the stones here have had one treatment (not all treatments are 'bad') or another. Truly natural gorgeous gemstones will be very expensive since most stones are not perfect and need help coaxing out the wonderful colors they contain. Quality for me means that the stone itself and colors will last, so I try very hard not to purchase dyed stone but I may not realize some have been dyed. Sometimes, though, this treatment as an enhancement to the natural colors already there, just makes them so irresistible.
Heat treatment and irradiation are the most common here..
Heat treatment, can result in a lighter or darker colored gemstone or cause the stone to completely change color. The early Romans heat treated corundum, rubies and sapphires, attempting to recreate the natural environment that produced the stones and allow them to complete the metamorphosis that nature began.
Irradiation is a gemstone treatment that uses high energy particles or electromagnetic waves. This will alter the color of some stones such as smoky quartz, derived from an irradiation treatment on colorless quartz. Topaz is another gemstone which turns brown when treated in this manner. It is then heated to create a stable blue color. For more information on this subject try https://www.gemsociety.org/article/gemstone-treatment-and-enhancement/
