This item is the square cabochon of high quality gem silica. It features an intense grass green overall body color with the rivers of blue running through it. This rough was Mexican in origin.
This stone measures 15 mm x 14 mm and is 5.5 mm thick. The weight of the stone is 14 carats.
Some years ago I purchased a fist sized chunk of chrysocholla rough at the Tucson gem and mineral show. I remember debating with myself for a while before finally buying the stone because it was rather pricey at the time. As it turned out I produced some amazing inlay and lapidary work from that one piece of material. There wasn't a bit of that stone that was wasted.. As it turned out it was one of the better purchases of my career. It's one of those stones that you wish you had more of and somehow never see anything like it again. This is the last stone that I have from that fabulous chunk of rough. This gem is finished on both sides so it could be used in a wire wrap setting. What I see for it, however, is a magnificent ring created in yellow gold with diamond accents. This is a drop dead gorgeous piece of Gem Silica. It's the patterning that makes it unique. All of that grass green color highlights a ribbon of sky blue.
