70% huacaya alpaca and 30% merino wool.
There are 2 types of alpaca. Huacaya are the more common type, which account for about 90% of all alpacas. Huacaya have fluffy, crimpy fleece that gives the animals a teddy bear-like appearance. The second type is Suri, which grow silky, lustrous fleece that drapes gracefully in beautiful pencil-locks. Suri Alpacas account for only about 10% of the world total alpaca population. Suri Alpaca fleece is valued for its luster, drape, softness, multiple natural colors, ease of dyeing and versatility. Both knitting and weaving can be used to produce luxury products. In general, alpaca is a strong, light weight, warm, and resilient fiber. Finer grades of alpaca fleece (known commercially as "Baby Alpaca") do not irritate your skin as stronger wool sometimes does. Sought out for its unique silky feel and superb "handle," alpaca fleece is highly valued by both cottage-industry artists (hand spinners, knitters, weavers, etc.) as well as the commercial fashion industry.
