There's only one King of the Beasts...but sometimes he can pose in two places at the same time. He will gladly guard both sides of your doll's front door, for example. Add a ring to the one mounted outside, and voila! a door knocker.

Drill (or paint) his eyes and your doll will have a mask (add colourful plumes, beads and jewels, ribbons, and you have Carnaval in Venice - the Lion of San Marco is one of that city's most famous and oldest symbols).

If you would like such a mask, we would be pleased to give this a try.

A lion's face would look fantastic on an armour breastplate or as part of a helmet.

This lion is about 1.75 in long and almost .5 inch deep. He is brass.

And how noble he would look on either side of a bed headboard, perhaps holding cords or tassels.

Your doll will not mind if you create jewelry for yourself. Or decorate a picture frame...put him in a collage...make a kingly belt buckle.

If you need an idea, Tita will be delighted to help.

If you are curious about my red hat (and the red hats of my friends): No, we are not honourary male members of The Red Hat Society...nor are we garden gnomes. The soft, rounded red hat, called il Cappello del Poeta, was a sign we were writers, especially Poets. So now, you will know when you see these on the heads of many of Botticelli's portraits.... Learning something New is Good. You will live another 100 days...or so said the ancient Chinese philosophers. In the 15th century, I did not know much about Chinese philosophy. I have learned many New Things, since. If the saying is true, I will live for about 600 years. On the other hand, I did pass away in November 1494, so this may be just wishful thinking, ;-)

When their photos expired, we donated our artwork to raise money for charity. Now we know prices can reflect donations. As of now, all profits, above costs, will go to Centro Pico, Mirandola/Modena, Italia, for their earthquake relief, especially the restoration of art. My home town: It was nearly demolished in 2013, and tourism is still way down. We'll do what we can to improve this! Know, therefore, a big portion of every price will be donated. And Mirandola thanks you, in advance, my Friends! (Know, too, our owner derives no tax benefits from such donations, since Centro Pico is not yet registered outside Italia...a fact we hope to remedy, in future.)

If you have read this far, you will learn we will sometimes offer relatively inexpensive items. Most are vintage furnishings and accessories in the 1:12 scale. Why, you ask? Well, our owner's eyesight isn't what it was. The owner dismantled a castle, and she still has objects too small for her 1:6 dolls. So if you're looking for something, ask. We just might have what you need!

The answer is YES! Today's more fashionable term may be "up cycling" (suggesting the end product is better than the sum of its parts), but King Richard, himself, promotes what he calls "creative conservation." We try to incorporate vintage and antique materials in our goods. Our efforts to find the unusual - even the unique - often involve the discovery of treasures, unexpected. Also, we reuse clean packing materials, boxes, etc., when appropriate. Feel free to keep these "going" when you send things to friends and family! We dolls try our best to save the Earth!

Ah! Excellent question. We like to believe so. However, to be fair, each doll is responsible for helping a very creative human counterpart to do the actual labour. We currently have a ratio, Doll to Person, of 1 on 1. The humans are learning quickly. But we promise to promote a continuing educational program - dolls are in this for the long haul and will never abandon their humans. If you can suggest an improvement in our shop, we are eager to know of this. We hope to grow better and better....
