Item details

An antique cut steel** buckle in a diamond shape. This buckle appears to be made from machine stamped ribbons of studs -- which would date it as late 19th century, early 20th. In the third photo you can see the smooth the back of the buckle and the limited number of rivets. As best as I can count with a jeweler's loop, the rivets appear to have eight (8) facets. It is in good condition -- no pieces of cut steel are missing and no evidence of rust -- but it is a little dull and could stand some polishing. This buckle is curved on both sides, which makes it difficult to measure -- without flattening it, it measures approximately 2 3/4" from curved side to curved side and 2 5/8" from top to bottom.

This buckle is left over from my days as a costume designer when I was constantly purchasing fabric and trim that might come in handy someday. But it's time to let it go...

This shop was opened for the sole purpose of selling all of the vintage textiles and trims that I've accumulated over the past thirty years that I can't use for the doll clothing I make for my other shop -- For All Time Designs. So feel free to ask any questions or ask for a bulk price if you're interested in multiple lots and so I can calculate the shipping costs for you -- frequent postage increases and the need to use different packaging are making it very difficult to use "across the board" shipping rates.

International Customers (including Canada) -- unfortunately, the USPS significantly increased international postal rates, effective January 17, 2016, and with weight classes that make it very difficult for me to include international rates in my listings. I apologize for the inconvenience, but if you are interested in purchasing an item from my shop, please contact me so that I can provide you with the shipping costs to your country.

** Cut steel items are made with tiny faceted and polished steel studs that are riveted in place. It is similar to marcasite in the way that it catches the light. It was extremely popular from the 1700s through the 19th century. In the latter 19th century, the individual rivets began to be replaced by machine stamped ribbons of studs. As a result of steel's high corrosion factor, not many pieces have survived.

In the USA -- I am sorry to say that the USPS has increased postage rates for packages again, effective January 21, 2018 -- so I have had to raise my shipping costs for all of my Shipping Profiles.

I ship every week day, sometimes even the day of your order. All packages are sent USPS First Class or Priority depending on the size of the shipment. Shipping includes tracking and I will send you the tracking number when I notify you that I have shipped your package. Please let me know if you would like expedited shipping.

For International Customers -- I am particularly sorry to say that the USPS has significantly increased international postal rates in the last few years and USPS First Class postage, tracking and insurance are available for the following countries only: Australia; Belgium; Canada; Croatia; Estonia; Finland; Germany; Hungary; Israel; Latvia; Lebanon; Lithuania; Malaysia; Malta; the Netherlands; New Zealand; Norway; Singapore; Slovak Republic; Spain; Switzerland; Turkey; and the United Kingdom. For all other countries, tracking is only available if I ship USPS Priority, which is very, very expensive.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but all international customers interested in purchasing an item from my shop will have to contact me so I can provide the shipping costs for your country.

For All International Customers -- the buyer is responsible for all international customs charges. Also, I fill out customs forms honestly, with the true value of the shipment. Generally, international delivery time should be about two weeks, but there may be delays due to customs (which are out of my control).
