My antique and vintage items have all been previously used and loved. Some more gently used and loved than others. I will always make notes in my item descriptions stating any flaws or signs of wear. So to help you better understand the condition of each item, I am listing below MY explanation of vintage condition terms.
MINT: An item is as perfect and pristine as when it was originally made and shows no signs of wear (I find that mint condition is rare for vintage).
EXCELLENT: An item shows slight signs of wear. Shows typical signs of aging or wear due to normal use, maybe one or two very slight imperfections whether from wear or manufacturing.
VERY GOOD: An item is considered usable but has some surface flaws (e.g. a small crack, small amount of crazing, a small chip or two) May have repairs done properly where it is not noticeable to the naked eye.
GOOD: Heavy wear but is still usable and still looks good - some paint discoloration, some amounts of crazing, several chips or breaks or may need minor repairs.
FAIR-POOR: Heavy wear (e.g. large cracks or chips, severe paint discoloration, with unlimited possibilities, large amounts of crazing.)- good to re-purpose.
Signs of wear should be expected on vintage items and the older it is, the more likely it will display indications of its age especially crazing. These are markers of an item's past life and should be cherished. After all, that's what makes vintage so wonderful!
