Want to add a booster to your magnetic slime? Go here to get some super fine 99.8% iron powder:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/NorthernWestStuff?ref=seller-platform-mcnav&search_query=iron+powder+super+fine

We have 3 grades of black iron oxide: natural (magnetite) fine, natural (magnetite) granular coarse, and synthetic fine. (Not all sizes are shown in the pictures).

This is a fine mesh synthetic black iron oxide. The natural black iron oxides come from the mineral magnetite. This pigment was purchased for use with resins but works equally well as a painter's pigment. It's a richer, darker, and purer black than the natural black iron oxides. It's also a more consistent black from batch to batch than the naturals. One other thing of note is the difference in density of the natural and synthetic black iron oxides. The synthetic is "fluffier" than the natural. Per unit weight the synthetic about twice the volume than the natural oxide. Both kinds are "magnetic", strongly attracted by a magnet. Because the synthetic is more consistent in particle size and absence of impurities you will get a somewhat different looking display when you put a magnet under a tray of this.
Used for many things besides a pigment and filler. There are 3 main types, and 3 main colors (although it is found in many shades of these), black, red, and yellow.
The Wiki article on black iron oxide as a pigment is here (it's not too good):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Black_(pigment)
The Wiki article on iron oxide in general is here (it's also not too good):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_oxide
The Wiki article on black iron oxide (the good one) is here (Iron (II,III) oxide = black iron oxide, Fe3O4):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron(II,III)_oxide
"Iron(II,III) oxide is the chemical compound with formula Fe3O4. It occurs in nature as the mineral magnetite. It is one of a number of iron oxides, the others being iron(II) oxide (FeO), which is rare, and iron(III) oxide (Fe2O3) also known as hematite. It contains both Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions and is sometimes formulated as FeO ∙ Fe2O3. This iron oxide is encountered in the laboratory as a black powder. It exhibits permanent magnetism and is ferrimagnetic, but is sometimes incorrectly described as ferromagnetic. Its most extensive use is as a black pigment which is synthesised rather than being extracted from the naturally occurring mineral as the particle size and shape can be varied by the method of production"-

FAQs

I'm sorry, but at this time we do not ship internationally.

If you would like a smaller or larger quantity of a raw material, click the "Request a custom order" button and tell us how much you would like. Or just contact us and let us know what you'd like. We'll get back to you ASAP.

This problem usually occurs with multiple items. Where possible, we're converting to calculated shipping. We originally didn't provide it because we sell so many dissimilar items (size, weight, etc), that it would not be possible to do it accurately. If your shipping cost is high, you can do one of the following: If you see "Request a Custom Order", "Contact", or "Ask a Question" on an item's page, you may use it to request a reserved listing. You may copy and paste a list of the items in your cart, send a screen shot of your items, or simply favorite them, and request a "reserved" or "custom" order. Or you may do nothing. We will see your multiple items & will always refund excess shipping charges before shipping your items.

If you have a technical question about an item we've listed, please don't hesitate to ask. We enjoy helping people out with a material or a process. We give anecdotal information in our listings if we have any. If you disagree with it or think we're being inaccurate or misleading please let us know that, too. If there are discrepancies in any of our listings let us know, we make mistakes like everybody and we'd like to be set straight and get those mistakes corrected.
