This richly colored eye-catching unique cab of brilliant yellow, oranges, white and black is a premium example of the perfectly named Bumble Bee Jasper from Indonesia, collected near the hot steaming calderas of an active volcano, giving an evocative image to the yellow-orange plumes in this cabochon. Dangerous to collect and also to cut, this stone actually must be cut with protective gloves and face mask as it contains arsenic. Safe to wear and touch in this highly polished state, it creates an appealing contrast in its design, and will definitely make a remarkable one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry! Note that this cab does have minor pits, which can be seen in the photos, but this is common for this material, and, rather than fill them in with epoxy, I prefer to have the stone in its natural state. For its size, though, it is less expensive that others that I've cut because of this.
