Item details

A wooden fountain pen is no ordinary pen. The tactile feel of the wood brings a personality to the pen that has to be experienced. The wood used here is a piece of ancient Irish Bog Oak. This wood is approx 4000-6000 years old. This bespoke pen would make an ideal gift for the 5th anniversary which is wood. Personalized pens are always well-received gifts, and you can have a name laser engraved on this pen to add that personal touch.
The Bock nib on this pen adds to the look and feel, as it writes as smooth as butter. You will look for excuses to write anything, just to get this pen out. If you are after an Irish gift for someone who is of Irish heritage then what better way to do that than a piece of Irish history.

'Life is too short to use an ugly pen'.

***Irish Bog Oak

During hundreds and thousands of years, because of minerals and iron from the water, the rotting of oak timber is slower. A special role is played by the underground waters in the creation and darkening the wood.
Over thousands of years, the wood turns from golden brown to black, this makes it very hard and needs to be worked with sharp tools.
You will own a piece of Irish history in your hands with this fine writing instrument.

***About the process***

A piece is selected from seasoned wood for its grain and colour.
They are carefully cut to show the best grain.
The wood is turned to size then sanded through 5 different grits of sandpaper.
It is then rubbed with Danish oil to bring out the beautiful grain then rubbed with a beeswax mix before completing with the premium fittings.
