This listing is for 4 ounces of Danny Boy, one of the newest of the Fantasy Rovings. The base fiber is hand dyed Blue Faced Leicester in a range of yummy greens enhanced with sari silk fiber predominately green, approximately 8%. The effect is jewel like and vibrant, but not over the top. I wish it had been ready for St Patrick's day. The hand of this roving is silky with good drape. A picture shows a sample quick spin and a swatch. It will be next to skin soft for most people. Excellent uses would be shawls and scarves, lace knitting where the monochromatic range of colors will not detract from the pattern, super luxurious socks or a slouchy hat, tres chic fingerless gloves. BFL wears better overall than merino. It will make a good yarn for weaving with this drape.
All of our animal based yarn and spinning fiber is a US small farm product, purchased at fair rates from the person who raised the animal in humane conditions and processed with a low carbon footprint. We do not use thermal or chemical processes to remove vegetable matter, so you may find the occasional trace of hay fleck, but it will not diminish your spinning pleasure. These wool fleeces were jacketed. Our roving is shipped in boxes, not poly mailers, to prevent excessive compression and abrasion. It should arrive ready to spin without further prep.
