{When buying multiple items: your shipping total might be much higher than necessary, and I reimburse, immediately after you pay, any overage. Contact me with questions, or to allow me to tell you the real shipping cost. I do this to make sure I am not underpaid for shipping-since many items must be shipped separately}

Louisa is a CVM and her wool is the most varied of the fleeces here- a mixture ranging from browns, black, white and buffs.

This is raw wool [unwashed], skirted, and then I hand clean each ounce-batch again. Some people don't want to have any picking done, to retain the locks and grease, so I do as much cleaning without pulling apart a lot of lock.

The micron range is typically 21-25 range (similar to the upper-end of the Merino micron count) and has elasticity even in combed form, making it a unique fine/medium wool to spin.

About the breed and wool characteristics: The CVM [California Varigated Mutant] was developed in the 60's by closing Rambouillet and Romney sheep. The CVM is known and loved by spinners for not only the fine fibers-perfect for next to skin items] but also for it's variated colors from one fleece [Calla is an exception]. Many of the fleeces will create a tweed like yarn due to variation. This is also a critical conservation breed, and Apifera had previously helped the Katahdin breed when it was emerging out of a critical time, so we liked hoping this breed too. Unlike most breeds, the CVM wool becomes darker with age and the color can also vary along the staple length-making beautiful tweed like yarn.
