Item details
VINTAGE HEART PINE wood slices, 115 years old, salvaged from a railroad warehouse in Florida. This warehouse was used as a hay and feed storage building during the laying of the tracks for the Gainesville to Micanopy Railroad, circa. 1890 - 1910. Animals were used back then to help with the construction of the railway and the feed had to be dry and safe. If you are interested I have pictures of our salvage operation of that building.
These Heart Pine slices are from the 2" x 6" floor boards. There are four slices and the remaining chunk from which they were cut that, when bookmatched, they will make heart designs. Great for inlay of all types or jewelry box lids or faces. Your imagination is your best guide. Rustic character includes the marks and stains created by the nails that were used to secure these floor planks.
This wood is not sealed so a couple coats of your favorite sealer will really make the grain and colors "pop".
If you purchase these and want more, just ask.
