This beautiful annual with brilliant blooms from early summer till frost on this vigorous, giant twining vine! The elegantly divided foliage is reminiscent of palm fronds and makes a spectacular backdrop for the striking 1-inch scarlet blooms. The tubular flowers face up and out from the foliage attracting hummingbirds, butterflies, and moths. It's the perfect accent for gates, poles, decks, containers and any other structure enabling this 15- to 20-foot vine to twine with unrestrained glory!
The foliage is so striking that even when not in bloom, it is a handsome addition to the garden. Very easy to grow in full sun, starts off slowly in the spring, preferring the warmer temperatures of summer. Blooms from late spring through frost.
How to plant: Best sown indoors, 6-8 weeks before planting outdoors, at temperatures between 68° and 86° Expect germination in 10-15 days
Outdoors, seeds may be sown, after all danger of frost is past in the spring, when the soil is warm Outdoors, expect germination in 12-17 days
If sowing seed outdoors, we recommend a maximum planting depth of 4X the width of the seed
