This listing will included everything you need to make a bag. This includes a desert rust colored deerskin leather that is prepunched with holes to make the sewing easier for you. This bag would have a pocket of 3" X 3 1/2" and the once you fringe it, it would hang down 8" below the bag on the bottom and about 3" on the sides. It would have a flap for the top.

It includes a leather sewing needle, sinew to sew with, and Chinese turquoise beads. What you see in the picture is what is included. There are no instructions provided but I am happy to answer any questions that you may have. The last picture of the listing will show you what a finished bag would look like that is a similar shape to the one you would make.

A medicine bag isn't exactly what it sounds like. To Native Americans a medicine bags was a sacred item, a talisman, or amulet. They were known to carry the "medicine" of that person, which is to say that they would contain the items that were most sacred to that person.....things that brought them protection, and strength, memories, etc. Typical items used in a traditional medicine bag were herbs, stones, and animal items. Once someone fills the medicine bag it become sacred and is not to be shared with anyone.

Medicine bags, back in the day, were usually small and a little more on the plain side than they are today but the meaning is still the same. Size and the items used in it can determine the price for a custom medicine bag but they start at $55.00 and go up from there. The average medicine bag is about 1" X 2" in the pocket of the bag. The neck straps can be made of leather, hemp, or another kind of cording and the bags themselves can be made out of many different materials. They can be embellished with branding, stones, beads, fabric, just anything that is symbolic of your own style.

Each custom medicine bag also comes with a medicine bundle. The bundle is sealed but contains the following.

Cedar - purification - protection, prayer, and healing
Bear berry leaf - to carry the prayers to the Great Spirit
Mullein leaf - healing and medicinal needs
Red willow bark - prayers, spiritual protection, respect
Red sumac leaf - to mix with tobacco to help carry prayers
spearmint leaf - a pair with tobacco for smoking
Lavender - love, devotion, silence, tranquility
Sage (white and desert)- purification - cleaning
Sweetgrass - protection, healing
Tobacco - gift from the creator. smoke carries prayers to the Great Spirit
Blue Hopi corn kernel for your food source.
The deerskin that is on the bag is a symbol of gentleness and unconditional love. Shows the ability to move through life’s obsticals with grace.

Medicine bags are a very personal thing and each one is unique. If you would like a medicine bag made specifically for you I would love to help you create the perfect piece. Just email me and I will lead you through the process.

The ever changing world of shipping.....Im not sure that I have an actual policy but I can tell you that all orders are insured and I usually ship within 48 hours of the order date if the item is in stock.

International Shipping - Please be advised that many countries charge tariffs and taxes for leather products coming into a country. Etsy sellers have no way of knowing each countries laws regarding these things and if you have concerns you need to check into this within your country. I track and insure all international shippings that I can. I do not accept returns for any international orders.

I would also like to mention here that on international orders, and possibly domestic orders too, I have found that the USPS can and actively does duplicate tracking numbers. It has been my experience that once the package gets in the system then the tracking info is updated and corrected. That can take up to 48 hours to do that. I insure EVERY international order but once it leaves my hands it is out of my control and I would have to allow a minimum of 4 weeks before I could replace or claim an item that is not delivered. Lets all hope we never need to worry about this!

I also do not accept responsibility for any taxes, tariffs or fees that may be applied by the government of your city, state, or country. Please check to see if there are any additional fees for you to receive a package from the United States of America.

Unclaimed - I send all of my packages insured and with a tracking number when requested. The tracking information provided from the USPS will tell me that it is delivered to a post office but not to an individual person. If the purchaser fails to claim their package at the post office or does not receive their package and does not contact me within 14 days of the original purchase I will be unable to refund any part of the purchase price.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me. I am a professional leather worker, not a professional shipper and there is always something new to learn. I enjoy shipping my work all over the world.....sometimes I just have to figure out how to do it!

Returns & exchanges

I strive to have happy and repeat customers. If you are not happy for any reason, please let me know within 7 days of receiving your purchase.

I will make every effort to make you happy! In the event of a refund the item must be returned to me in its original condition and if there were any additional shipping charges per your request, they will not be eligible for a refund. Return shipping charges would be at your expense and I would require insurance for the purchase price plus shipping and also require proof of delivery. Returned items need to be received by me within 14 days of receipt of item.

All custom orders require full payment in advance. Custom orders are not refundable.

International orders are non-refundable.
