Shipping & policies
I use Royal Mail first class shipping unless stated otherwise. If you would like tracking, let me know at checkout and I will send you a corrected invoice with the additional postage cost.
I usually post midweek, but I will confirm as soon as I dispatch your item/s. :) If you need something to arrive urgently, again this can be arranged at the checkout. I always aim to ship within a week, or two weeks for custom silks. Custom yarns are currently taking longer to dry in the cold weather. If you are experiencing unusual delays after receiving shipping notification, please let me know - I want my customers to be satisfied!
I will ship to anywhere in the world. If you convo me I can confirm the exact price for your destination, but you will usually find that my flat rate overseas shipping is saving you money. Overseas shipping will likely take considerably longer than domestic, again, I can probably give you an estimate of when your items will arrive if you would like one. I cannot give guarantees unless you pay for tracking/insurance.
I expect packages to arrive with you within a week if you are in the UK, and within two if you are in the US. At busy times (around holidays!) it may fall outside of that.
I reuse packaging where possible, and you will find that your parcel does not contain a receipt unless you request one. This is to save paper and cost to you and the environment. You can access your receipt details and print them from the relevant page on Etsy. You will find your care instructions on your listing. I am beginning to phase in full yarn labels, but again, if you will definitely need this information in physical form then please ask me to include this in your parcel. :)
Payment for custom listings: I will usually require payment or part payment before I start work on your item. This is no reflection on you, but on the relative size or cost of your item. If I have said I will list your item when it is finished, please keep checking in. I consider commissioning an item to be a pledge to pay in full, and wish to be able to continue to accept commissions on faith without downpayment whenever I am able. I will always give you the full price up front, though I may give a range of price options to agree between us.
If the worst should happen and you find yourself unable to pay for a custom item, I would ask that you let me know as soon as possible, and if we cannot make an arrangement to suit both parties then I will list the item for general sale. Custom items with very specific personalisation are non-returnable.
I only accept paypal at the moment. I am happy to give you a little while to pay, please just let me know if you need more time, and I will keep your item listed as reserved for up to three months - only by arrangement! If you do not agree a time scale with me I will only keep your item reserved for four weeks.
Returns & exchanges
Please read item descriptions carefully. I do not guarantee that colours are 100% as described or as photographed, and differences in computer monitors must also be accounted for, though I try to give as accurate a portrayal as possible and make it clear if the listing is for an item with minor faults or if it does not appear true to colour in the pictures.
If your item requires repair I can provide that service, and will endeavour to do so at my own expense if you cover postage. If you would like repairs to knitwear, sewn items, or jewellery, please contact me to arrange their return for this service. :)
I expect average custom listings currently to be completed well within a month, often within a week for smaller items. I welcome a challenge and will help you get exactly what you want. Just ask! :) Large custom knits are taking around six weeks to complete.
I am offering custom variations of any of the items in my shop right now, and will be adding new ranges all the time, as well as being willing to work on any custom knit or crochet project for you. If you can describe what it is you are looking for, or send a photograph or link to something you like, I am happy to discuss working for you to achieve just what you want.
All of my playsilks are tested and certified to fulfil up-to-date CE toy safety requirements. Mini silks are designated as suitable for children over 36 months as they may be a choking hazard if used unsupervised. Larger silks are suitable for all ages but I recommend supervision to prevent entanglement - use common sense! :) Dyes are professional milling dyes and non-toxic in the finished product. Silk is a non-flammable material, and self-extinguishes, but care should still be taken if using around candles. :)
Care instructions are usually included in my listings, but as back up for this:
- Silks are best hand-washed, they may be machine washed but this shortens their lifespan over time. Line dry. Some colour may leach on first washing.
- Hand knitted garments are also ideally handwash only, and drying garments flat helps preserve their shape.
- Unless otherwise specified, my yarns will felt beautifully in a washing machine. If you wish your finished garments to remain unfelted, use cool water only, turn off spin cycles, and avoid accidental tumble drying! :)
