I love to beachcomb and always return with pockets full of finds. My favourite time is on the ebb tide when the sea is retreating and a firm ridged sand is left. Ruffly seaweed is left at the strand line and on the rocks and the world is filled with the sound of popping, rustling and piping as the creatures of the shore settle or move across the newly exposed land.
This pattern was inspired by the beaches and inlets where I have spent hours. It has a central pattern of ridges both large and small surrounded by airy bubbles and the edge is completed by a smooth ruffle. It reminded me of the strands of sea lettuce found on the shore.
