Pin Loom Weaving Leaf Scarf Pattern by Marcella Edmund The leaf scarf is created from squares woven on the pin loom; the weft is selectively pulled to make the shapes. Hand embroidery completes the leaf with veins and stem. Skills: pin loom weaving, sewing, embroidery Equipment: 4” pin loom, 6” weaving needle, yarn needle, scissors, steam iron Materials: 200 yards variegated sock or lace weight wool yarn; contrast yarn for stem embroidery. Note about the materials: for the distorted weft to lie flat, wool is the best choice. The steam iron coaxes the wool to reform the weave, in an amazing way. Synthetics cannot be pressed.
As far as I am concerned, Marcella Edmond is one of the absolute best of the pin loom pattern designers. This time she has outdone herself. This design is innovative, lovely, and I can’t wait to try it!
