THIS IS THE PRINTED VERSION OF THE MARLOWE TEDDY BEAR PATTERN WHICH WE WILL POST TO YOU

The Marlowe Teddy Bear pattern makes an elegant traditional Barbara-Ann Bear about 14 inches (35cm) tall.

We've used this pattern to make bears in a variety of mohairs ranging from 3mm vintage mohair to 25mm dense and in crushed velvet. Marlowe is an old style, traditional bear and he's fairly easy to make even for a beginner. The pieces fit together easily, there are no darts and no need to gather pieces in order to make them fit. He's a bear you can make in a comfortable chair while watching TV and suitable for sewing by hand or machine.

The pattern includes all the instructions you need to make your bear with many diagrams for the more difficult parts. The pattern and instructions are on 13 x A4 sheets, the pattern is full sized.

You'll need a 1/4 metre of mohair, paw pad material, glass eyes or shoe buttons and 5 x 45mm joints. We use plastic pellets in the feet, hands, ankles, wrists and tummy to make him a little saggier and cuddly.

If you need any of the items necessary to make your bear, mohair, wool felt, eyes, sewing thread, strong button thread, bear making tools, polyester stuffing or glass beads, please contact us and we can supply what you need, you'll just need to pay for them separately.

Please note that the completed bear is not a toy and is unsuitable for children under the age of 14, it is a collector's bear.

No, all our patterns include the seam allowance. Just cut out the pattern and draw around it.

Firstly contact us and tell us about the problem, it's useful to us to know about the problems people might have. We'll try and overcome your problem, we might have to draw around a pattern piece and send it to you in a message for example. If all else fails we'll post you a pattern, you won't be left in the lurch or out of pocket.

Yes, up to a point.... making bears is what we do, so we'd be very happy to make you a bear. However some of the materials shown are no longer available, so we might have to use something similar (or even different, if you prefer) also we might not be able to replicate the exact same expression, we'll get very close, but like people each bear is different.

We have all the materials here you need to make your own teddy bear, unfortunately some of the mohair shown in the photos is no longer available, but we have alternatives. Sending stuffing, pellets or glass beads often costs more than the cost of the items, so if you don't live in the Uk we would suggest you buy these locally, but if that's not possible we will of course post them to you.

The main attributes a teddy bear making material should have are; strength, durability, non-stretchiness, colour fastness and being non-flammable. A lot of clothes are quite thin and weak and some are quite stretchy, to overcome this you should use another fabric to back it, such as cotton batting, you should apply this to the back of the fabric, draw around the pattern on the batting and then cut out.
