Item details

This is one of those items with a hint of mystery. We picked this hunk of iron out of a bin of rusty junk metal parts in a thrift shop. It looks like it may have been a door frame from an old stove or heater, as it seems to have space for peg hinges at the bottom, and a nosy projection at the top which a clasp might have closed on. With that art nouveau kind of look, we're betting it's at least 70 years old. But who really cares anyway; we just think it has a ton of character and, with a fresh coat of black satin paint, makes a fantastic repurposed picture frame!
That's Pop in the photo; this is a print from a picture taken 110 years ago, in 1907. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We love this photo because as he sits on this wing-back chair wearing that white christening gown, he looks like a cherubic angel. (Actually, he was an angel!)
You'll probably want to substitute your own photo in this 'frame' and you'll probably have to trim it down like we did. The inside dimensions are around 5 1/4" square. The outside of the frame measures 10 inches by 7 inches. There is no glass to cover the photo.

Additional policies

Most of our items are created from old, antique, vintage stuff. We've found junk that's been sitting in dusty, drafty barns for decades. We've even found stuff out laying in the woods, completely exposed to the elements. As such, many of our products have rust, chipped paint, dents, cracks, missing pieces, cobwebs, scratches, paint speckles, stains, gouges, and fingerprints. Please look carefully at all photos to avoid being surprised. You are buying products in "as is" condition.
