AAA Grade Lemurian Seed Quartz Crystal

36.2grams,
42.21mm x 18.81mm x 16.54mm

This is a very high-grade Lemurian Seed Crystal from an old find, from the area of Diamantina, in Minas Gerias, Brazil. Although the "Lemurian" crystal grow lines are not prominently featured on this specimen, I love that it is water clear! This specimen also has a very thin, transparent coating of iron oxide (giving it a very faint pink color at the tip). This crystal is optically clear through the center, and the point is absolutely perfect! This would make a excellent gift for a rock collector!

A recent discovery from 1999, these crystals were discovered in a bed of sand and completely separate of one another. Many of the Lemurian Seed Crystals on the market today were not found in clusters (but clusters do exist!). This specimen was found in the area of Diamantina, in Minas Gerias, Brazil, which is famous for their tapered, long laser wand crystals. Physically, Lemurian Seed Crystals often display ladder-like grooves which cross the body of the crystal. They can also have very clear interiors. Many Lemurian Crystals also display a reddish pink tinge which is caused by a light coating of iron-oxide.

Wikipedia says, "Quartz belongs to the trigonal crystal system. The ideal crystal shape is a six-sided prism terminating with six-sided pyramids at each end. In nature Quartz Crystals are often twinned, distorted, or so intergrown with adjacent crystals of quartz or other minerals as to only show part of this shape, or to lack obvious crystal faces altogether and appear massive. Well-formed crystals typically form in a 'bed' that has unconstrained growth into a void; usually the crystals are attached at the other end to a matrix and only one termination pyramid is present. However doubly-terminated crystals do occur where they develop freely without attachment, for instance within Gypsum. A Quartz Geode is such a situation where the void is approximately spherical in shape, lined with a bed of crystals pointing inward."
