FAQs

The calculator gets confused with multiple items in the cart (we’re working on this). We REFUND shipping overages on any order that we can get cheaper shipping for.

We get all of our hides from a furriery that has been in business for many years and we have bought from them for many years. As of today, all vendors that we do business with are in good standing and have no violations of unethical treatment of animals nor any state or federal violations.

First, have in mind what project you want to make. Second, gather some info! Check out our YouTube videos, we may have just the info you are looking for! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAr8vGH85Q6SVmMkVLWQjpQ You may even want to join a leathercraft facebook group. We have our Dibs group which not only is a great place for advice from others but a venue to purchase one of a kind leathers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TLGDibs/?source_id=149848285034100 This group is also full of helpful experts: https://www.facebook.com/groups/leathercraftersssg/ Have questions that weren't answered on any of these venues? Drop us a a line in Conversations and we will see what we can do to help!

Where Fabric is measured in Yards, Leather is measured in Square Feet. The rough equivalent to a yard in leather would be 18 square feet. This is to account for the natural shape of leather and parts that may not be usable for you project. We advise that you use the actual measurements you need for your project, instead of yards. For example, you are making a jacket that calls for 2 yards. Break down the actual sizes of the panels you need. If the back panel is 20"x30" and the front panels are 15"x30", you now know you need at least 50"x30" inches of leather. From here you can figure out what sides or hides will be large enough for your project.

The thickness of leather is gauged in ounces (oz). One ounce equals 1/64th of an inch or 0.4 Millimeters. For example, 3 oz would be 3/64" or 1.2mm. Not sure what thickness of leather you are working with and don't have a gauge? Check out this hack: https://youtu.be/YL9ztiFr5Uo

We want you to be happy with your order, but if you are not, please call us immediately at 507-932-3795. In the event you do need to return an item, a refund will be issued for the cost of the item. Please be aware we do not reimburse shipping costs either way. All items must be returned in the manner they were shipped. For example, if a hide is rolled on receipt, it must be returned rolled. Not following this instruction can result in a 25% restocking fee. Instructions on how to fold a hide correctly to ship back bit.ly/howtofoldhide If an exchange is required, additional costs may be expected. These costs are payable prior to us shipping the exchange.

Yes, when you purchase a side or full hide from us we will cut the hide into straps for you any width from 1"-6". There is a $12 cutting fee. Please send us a convo so we can set up a custom listing for you. Note: We don’t cut the 12"x 12" precuts into strips. A side or whole hide will need to be purchased.

Only cow, pig, lamb, rabbit, sheep, and goat can be shipped internationally. If you wish to order Deer or New Zealand deer, this can be done, but we have to charge an additional $100 surcharge to pay for the Fish and Wildlife fees. You will need to let us know ahead of time if this is something you would like to order so we can process the paperwork in a timely manner.
