If you're looking for research for Depression Era, late 1920s Children's clothing, toys and furnishings, this is a great catalog. And I've just learned that this company was eventually bought up by the now-familiar Toys R Us!
Originally based in Greenwich, Connecticut with branches over the east coast, Best & Co was one of the most popular places to shop for classic (and later, preppy) childrens' clothing from 1879 to 1971.
This is NOT a reproduction or digitized version. This is the genuine catalog that someone received in 1928.
This catalog is fantastic. I didn't know what 5 images to limit this posting to when I started copying them. I've chosen mostly illustrated pages of clothing, but there are also some terrific references for toys and room furnishings too (great if you do props for film or theater).
And the illustrations all look like the adorable drawings commonly found in childrens' books of the period. This was the tail-end of 'the Golden Age of Illustration', but the anonymous artists who diligently plied their trade romanticizing fashion for the consumers for decades are well represented here. (One of my favorites is the 'center fold' titled On with the Dance For Gay Spring Days, with a circle of adorable little girls in charming bloomer dresses.)
48 pages on better than pulp paper, the cover (light card stock) is printed in a dull blue and lime yellow, and all interior pages are black ink only.
Inside you'll see frocks and dresses, tub suits, little girls' hats, Best's corrective shoes, McKenzie Baby Coach prams, The Royal Middy (sailor suits) and much more.
7 inches X 10 inches.
Condition is Good to Very Good vintage ephemera. There is some discoloration, corner bends, and a few small rips.
I offer these items in as-is, pre-owned condition. I try to describe flaws or damage as I see them. Please feel free to ask questions before you decide to purchase.
Note that due to time constraints, I only ship two or three times a week. If you need something shipped more quickly, please contact me first to be sure that I'm able to meet your needs so that neither of us is disappointed.
I will ship to most countries, but if you're not certain please feel free to contact me before you purchase. Unfortunately, insurance through the US Postal System is not available except at the most expensive shipping rates for mailing internationally.
If my shipping cost estimate was over the actual cost by more than $2.00, I will refund the overage to you.
I'm happy to combine shipping for items if you purchase them at the same time.
I accept payment via PayPal and Etsy Direct Checkout.
If you choose to cancel a purchase before I've shipped it, I will refund your full purchase price plus any shipping fees that you've paid. Cancellations after shipping will be handled on a case by case basis, and please convo me for a solution.

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
Custom or personalized orders

Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Conditions of return
Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
Additional return information
My items are sold 'as is', in vintage, pre-owned and / or used condition. I try to describe any problems that I find, and I will only refund if I have grossly misrepresented the condition or size of an item. In this situation, I will refund only after the item has been returned to me (and received) in the condition that it was shipped in.
Etsy policy requires that Sellers be responsible for refunds due to shipping loss or damage. Given this reality, I am adding appropriate insurance to all shipping prices in order to protect both of us. For Priority Mailing, this would mean any item valued over $50 US. (As I am selling unique items, I'm not able to offer an identical or similar replacement, obviously.)
In the rare case that your parcel arrives damaged, or the item has been damaged in transit, you MUST take photos of the damage and upload them for me ASAP, in order for me to file an insurance claim. I'm sorry, but no photos = no refunds.
If you are purchasing with a deadline in mind, please check with me first to be sure that I can accommodate your needs. It will save disappointment on both of our sides. (For instance, holiday or birthday gifts, film shoot, rehearsal needs, etc.)
