Due to the nature of needle felting, your item may become fuzzy over time. If you see any long fibres, please don't tug on them! Just give your item a very careful trim close to the surface with a sharp pair of scissors.
Needle felting is the art of taking loose wool fibres, and sculpting them into shapes or patterns by repeatedly stabbing them with a barbed needle. This barbed needle tangles the wool fibres together, making it possible to create seamless shapes.
All my needle felted items use 100% real wool. They are not made from synthetic fibres. They are also stuffed with real wool, although some may have polyester hollowfibre filling, which is the stuffing you commonly find in teddybears. If this has been used, it will be mentioned in the item listing. Some of my items have eyes made from wool. Others have plastic eyes that are glued into place. My items with plastic eyes are not recommended for small children.
Yes! My dyed wools come from a supplier that ensures all their dyed wools are non-toxic and colour-fast and conform to safety regulations.
Some of my items have small, plastic eyes with metal stems. These are definitely not safe for children. Beyond that, my items often have small parts (arms, ears, tails etc) that are made from wool and could perhaps be pulled off and swallowed. Due to the nature of needle felting, a lot of handling and rubbing could also make the item quite fuzzy and ruin the finish. They are designed to be looked at, rather than cuddled and played with extensively. On this basis, I would not recommend my items for small children.
I'm more than happy to accept custom orders! Just send me a message about what you'd like, and I'll get back to you and let you know if it will be possible. Custom orders will cost more than my usual items, especially if I need to order in new colours of wool for it.
