Item details

Very intense! Use less of this colorant due to its strength. You only need about 1/4 tsp. of this color per pound of soap. This will stay the same brick red shade in soap, it will not give you a real bright Christmas red.

One ounce jar of colorant

INCI: Iron Oxide

FAQs

Yes, we do ship internationally via the United States Postal Service. Please feel free to send us a convo with what you would like to order so that we may get you a shipping quote and then create a listing for your order.

Not always. Most fragrance oils have natural components like essential oils as components. These are combined with synthetic aroma compounds and usually a solvent to prevent separation of the various components. Our scents are designed to be used in bath and body products, but since they are concentrated they should not be applied directly to the skin.

Cosmetic grade colorants or scents mean that they are formulated to be used in bath and toiletries products using RIFM standards. That is why you don't want to use a candle scent for a skin product unless you know for sure that it is approved for cosmetic use as well. Non-skin formulations often have ingredients which are not suitable for bath and body products. With that said, you should not use fragrance or essential oils directly on your skin, but dilute them in a carrier oil, or add them to your preparations.

This is a much debated topic. Although the term "natural" has no legal definition in the U.S., our opinion is that the clays are natural but the oxides, ultramarines, and micas are not. While oxides and micas do occur in nature, they are not pure. Our colorants are manufactured in a lab in order to be considered cosmetic grade, not gathered or harvested. We feel the only natural colorants for soaps are clays, spices, and some botanicals (i.e. leaves, flower petals). Spices and botanicals tend to be more muted and earthy with a limited range of colors. So for a nice range of bright and (mostly) stable colors, our pigments and clays are a safe, time-tested method of coloring soap.
