Knit your own alpaca lined boots! Mukluks are extra soft boots with colorwork on the outside and alpaca on the inside. Adding soles to your Mukluks make sure the boots will last. You can purchase suede Boye slipper soles at major craft stores, or go to simpleshoemaking.com for a sturdier boot-like sole that can be worn outdoors.
Mukluks are sized to work with Boye Suede Slipper Soles, available in sizes US Women’s 6-10. If you have a slipper sole for smaller or larger sizes than US Women’s 6-10, you can still use the pattern. Simply follow the same directions but knit to the length of the wearer’s foot. For a tighter t, go down a needle size; for a looser t, go up a needle size.
For the alpaca lining, you'll need 440 yards of 100% baby alpaca, worsted weight (3.5 oz / 220 yds)
For the exterior, you'll need 100% wool, worsted weight 130 yards in four colors of your choice.
