This amazingly soft and squishy aran weight yarn is 100% Corriedale wool, grown & spun in New York, dyed naturally with locally foraged pokeberries. It is a bright and cheery fuchsia.

Pokeberry (also known as pokeweed) is native to the eastern US. It grows plentifully in upstate New York on the sides of roads and edges of fields. The early shoots are an Appalachian delicacy (poke sallat), but the plant itself is poisonous. The black berries reveal a bright magenta juice when crushed, which is what I use for the dye. When dyed cold, the result is shades of magenta. A carefully monitored hot dye bath will yield deep reds. The range of beautiful and bright purples and reds that can be coaxed from pokeberries are my absolute favorite!
All Blue Sheep Yarn Co. yarns are dyed naturally with plant dyes using sustainable and eco-friendly methods. Yarn is hand-dyed in small batches. We are committed to keeping our yarns and dyes local & earth friendly. Dye stuffs are mindfully foraged or grown locally whenever possible.
Some fading may occur with everyday use. Color may run in the first few washes. We suggest you hand-wash your finished items separately in cold water with pH neutral soap. Roll in a towel to squeeze out excess water & lay flat to dry.
Hand dyed, small-batch yarns are naturally variegated and will have slight color variations. White, light and dark spots are common. This gives our yarn a wonderfully rustic look that we love! However, if you are using multiple skeins for a project we suggest you work the new skein into your project by alternating at least 5 rows of the new skein with 5 rows of the old skein to blend any possible slight color changes between skeins.
All weight and yardage calculations are approximate & may vary slightly, however we do our best to err on the side of caution.
