Luscious hand spun pure merino and silk yarn in gelati tonings. The skein is of soft merino plied with a co-ordinating silk handspun thread - and spinning these was a joy! The colours range from muted blues and greens to yellows, apricot and peach, pinks and mauves, and the silk thread adds lustre and sheen. The average number of wraps per inch is between 11 and 14, making the wool somewhere between Sport weight (5 ply) and DK (8 ply).
I can picture this being used to provide subtle shading in a scarf, either knitted, crocheted or woven, or any other item where soft colour variations are needed. Handling the skein has made me realise how drapeable it is! The yarn is soft and non-irritating to skin, so it can be safely used in a garment.
This skein is spun from the same wool and silk fibres as the other gelati skein listed by YarraSpun. If you wished to purchase and use both, I would suggest using the skeins alternately, to even out any differences in thickness - one row or pick from one skein and the next from the other.
I try to accurately photograph the colours, but know that some screens are better than others at reproducing them correctly. If you are unsure, please contact me and I will happily send you a sample of the yarn.
