There is something irresistable about this painting and frame and I just had to buy them.... The frame is wonderfully kitsch - made of plastic I would guess it dates from the 1970s and it has been modelled to look like those wonderful old ornate gilt frames you find around old masters'. The faux leather back is held on with two metal bands and the easel is held in place by a strap of the same faux leather - the strap shows show wear and tear but still works.
The painting, of a butterfly, pink flower and foliage, is actually very pretty and could be a mixture of acrylic and oils. You could keep the two together or remove the painting and reuse the frame.
