This vintage Traum Thread Box is 7-3/8 inches by 2-1/2 inches, and about 1-5/8 inches deep. It has 12 compartments for spools of thread, and will come with the 12 wood spools of thread as shown.
The box is made from sturdy plastic that is slightly yellowed from age. The top is embossed with "Traum, Trade Mark, Thread Box" in capital letters. Most wooden spools still have their original thread (good amounts but not completely full) and most are mercerized cotton, although one is nylon.
The thread spools are described below:
4 Coats & Clark's wood spools with one light pink, 1 medium pink, 1 light blue (has nylon thread), and 1 orange thread. 4 J & P Coats wooden spools with one light purple, 1 light turquoise, 1 red, and 1 dark red thread. 1 Star wood spool that has a little navy blue thread over gray thread. 1 Dyno wood spool with royal blue thread. 2 Belding Corticelli wood spools; the one with red thread is in great condition, while the one with navy blue thread has some wood missing from the ends of the spool and the thread looks to be hand wound.
Some end papers are loose or missing. There are scratches on the vintage plastic thread box, but no cracks. These details are reflected in the price. The lid lifts off and on well. This useful and collectable thread box with wood spools of thread will come in handy!
